Reverse Phone Lookup

The N933 smartphone takes the basic ideas of an iPhone and a traditional flip-phone and mashes them together.
Created by some no-name Chinese manufacturer, the gold-toned N933 looks just like a basic old-school cellphone when closed, but when you flip its lid open, it reveals a 3-inch touchscreen panel, along with an array of apps designed to look like those on an iPhone.
Under the hood, the phone is actually pretty ordinary, with a 320×240 display, and no on-board storage, although you can add up to 2GB of storage with (presumably) an MicroSD card. There’s also a digital camera, but at just VGA resolution, it’s not even worth mentioning. Damn, I mentioned it.  The product description also mentions a full QWERTY keyboard, but I surely don’t see one hiding in there, unless it’s of the on-screen variety. Oh yeah, there’s an FM radio in there too, but unless it receives Pandora, I don’t really care these days. While it does have dual SIM card slots, it only supports the GSM 900 and 1800MHz bands, so it won’t work in North America.

The age of mobile phones has indeed become complex and for sure, the mechanical means of providing effective communication is something one would see in the past. But perhaps for the Celsius X VI II Remontage Papillon Phone, it is more of the design that becomes appealing rather than the mobile phone intent itself.

The Celsius X VI II carries a transparent look where you can see the mechanism operate. Influenced by the features of a tourbillion watch, this mechanical concept phone may not necessarily be ideal in today’s modern mobile phone age. A collector’s item would be the best thing this device could come but it doesn’t come cheap.

google

A new rumor appeared on the network about the future phone of the Google company. According to the sources, in the near future the search giant will get at its disposal numerous ready prototypes in order to start full-scale testing of its new smartphone.

It is stated that the new version of Android, code-named Flan with support for three-dimensional graphics will serve as the operating system for the phone.

According to the previously leaked information, the sale of the phone will start in early 2010, while the device will made by a South Korean company, whose name will not be present on the case of the phone.

Google continues to deny all the information about preparing its own phone, stressing that such events could disrupt the partnership with many vendors, because the operating platform Android is being developed by Google. Yet there is suspicion that the company has directly influenced the design and functional features of Motorola Android.

Mobile phones have evolved immensely since 1983, both in design and function.

From the Motorola DynaTAC, that power symbol that Michael Douglas wielded so forcefully in the movie “Wall Street”, to the iPhone 3G, which can take a picture, play a video, or run one of the thousands applications available from the Apple Store.

There are thousands of models of Mobile phones that have hit the streets between 1983 and now.

We’ve picked a few of the more popular and unusual ones to take you through the history of this device that most of us consider a part of our everyday lives.

We have tried, wherever possible, to include the most popular phones and the phones that were “firsts” for a particular feature, but may have missed out on your favorite phones due to the sheer number of models that are out there.

We invite you to post your faves in the comments section if they are not listed here.

Mobile phones are just now beginning to be as vital to North Americans as they have been to Asians. You can always see what is coming to store shelves in the next six months to a year by looking at the models that are currently available in Japan.

North America also had a spotty 3G network that has only really been revamped recently in order to deal with increasing demands for faster loading speeds from mobile customers, whereas Asia and most of Europe have had proper 3G networks in place for some time.

This has led to a revolution in 3G phones from 2007 until now, with more due to come out in 2009.

The list does not include any phones that were not portable handhelds. Car phones and some handhelds that were the size of a small briefcase were in use in the 1970’s and 1980’s, but since this is more about design than function we chose not to include them here.

ARM has been talking up its Mali-200 and Mali-400 processors for a little while now, but according to the company’s graphics product manager, Remi Pedersen, they’re now finally on track to land in some actual products, and the first cellphones using ‘em could show up as soon as winter 2009. While Pedersen unfortunately didn’t have anything to say about those phones themselves, he did make some pretty bold claims about the processors, which are able to run OpenGL ES 2.0 and can supposedly pump out 16 million triangles per second and 275 million pixels per second. Those numbers apparently apply to both the Mali-200 and Mali-400, although the later is multicore scalable (up to quad-core at 300MHz), and even able to produce 1080p resolutions. To bring all that home, ARM has whipped up a port of the original Project Gotham Racing game to demo at GDC, which reportedly runs just like the original Xbox game performance-wise, but “feature-wise it looks like an Xbox 360 title.”
