A new cellphone developed by LG has been recently spotted at the FCC website, more specifically the LG VB530 which can be considered a big brother of the VN250 which was presented at CTIA 2010.

Anyway, the upcoming LG VB530 has some features that were missing on the VN250, such as a useful MP3 player. Other features include a QWERTY keyboard, Bluetooth, and GPS. Sadly this is only information of the cellphone at this moment, but as always we’ll keep you updated.

LG announced a new touchscreen slate recently called the Viewty Snap (GM360). It packs a 3″ touchscreen, Bluetooth 2.1, FM radio, social networking apps, including Facebook, and push e-mail. The phone supports a variety of document and media viewing, so it should do well as both a business and pleasure device. I’m going to presume that “Optic-all” means optical zoom on the 5 megapixel camera with LED flash. You can take pictures in low light and in continuous shooting (good for fast-moving targets), as well as upload with one touch to your social networks.

LG may be the world’s third largest phone maker, but when it comes to Android (and smartphones in general), it’s far behind other companies.

Until now, LG announced five Android handsets: LG GW620, LG Optimus GT540 , LG Ally for Verizon, LG Optimus Q LU2300 and LG SU2300.

HTC, Samsung and Motorola have more Android phones than LG, and they all have at least one high-end model – sure, the LU2300 and SU2300 are also high-end, but they’re made for Korea only, and thus they don’t count when we’re talking about the global market.

Perhaps because of its not-that-impressive smartphone portfolio, LG Mobile’s operating profit sales dropped to 0.9% in the first quarter of 2010 (from 6.7% a year ago).

In the light of these facts, LG plans to make an aggressive push into the smartphone market: the company intends to launch 20 Android devices by the end of 2010.
In early 2009, LG committed itself to making Windows Mobile its main smartphone OS, but things have definitely changed since then with the rise of Android, and Microsoft’s late launch of Windows Phone 7. So it looks like, this year at least, LG (like many other handset makers) is betting on Android. It will have a WP7 handset, too, but that may not help the company’s profits much.

Announced in February as the successor of the LG KS360, the LG GT350 is now shipping to European markets (including the UK and Germany) with a new name: LG Town.

The launch of LG Town GT350 represents the debut of LG’s new Town Series, which will include phones focused on social networking services.

The Town GT350 itself comes with a special user interface (apparently based on the S-Class UI) “designed to make it easier than ever to enjoy real-time interaction with friends on popular social networks” like Facebook, Twitter or Orkut. The handset also features a 3 inch WQVGA (240 x 400) touchscreen display, full QWERTY keyboard, Wi-Fi (to compensate for the lack of 3G), Bluetooth 2.1, FM radio, 2MP camera, and MicroSD card support.

The price of LG Town GT350 will be announced separately for each market. In Italy, for example, where the phone is called LG Tribe Next, it will cost €149 ($183).
