During the Capital Markets Day the Finnish Nokia company shared its plans for the future.
In its statement Nokia specified two main points. Apparently, the company finally realized that, first of all, the Maemo OS operating system has tremendous potential, and, second, the S40 platform had long been out of date.

Therefore, in subsequent years Nokia will reduce the number of devices based on S40, and at the same time will increase the share of smartphones produced by the company. Accordingly, the proportions of both platforms being currently used by the company (Symbian and Maemo) will also be increased.
Another good news is that next year the company will update the platform Symbian OS S60 5th edition. It was also announced that the production of devices based on Maemo 6 is scheduled for 2010.
The company expects to increase the sale of mobile devices by 10% (compared to 2009) and, at least, to maintain its share in the mobile market at the current level, that is – 38%.
