Reverse Phone Lookup

Previously, there were rumours that Sony Ericsson’s X1 would get an update to Windows Mobile 6.5 after a supposed leaked ROM hit xda-developers. Well, sources close to the matter are apparently dashing those hopes, saying that no official update is actually in the works. Considering the X1 already has a customized user interface, you aren’t really missing out on the facelift, and Marketplace is coming to 6.1 anyway, so the only substantial feature X1 owners won’t be enjoying is My Phone. Big loss? Not really.

Representatives of Acer have announced that their new smartphone Liquid (A1) will be available on sale in Britain in late November. Let us remind that the A1 is the first smartphone of the company running Android operating system and the world’s first Android phone based on Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.

It is sad, but the device will be equipped with the Android 1.6 Donut, and not with the latest version of Android 2.0 OS. Also, apparently said earlier 1GHz processor of the new phone will operate at 768 MHz. Acer has, most likely, decided to reduce the working frequency of the processor to reduce the very high power consumption, as well as heating of the device.

No wonder that a year after the start of sales of Omnia i900 WiTu, the company has produced its successor, the smartphone i8000 Omnia II, also known as WiTu AMOLED. So, all the fans of Samsung smartphones can safely defer a certain amount for the purchase of the new devise. It is worth it.

The size of the novelty is like the iPhone, at least, it was with this smartphone that wanted Samsung to compare. Thus, the dimensions are the same, only WiTu AMOLED is still thicker. If you don’t like big screens, this unit is clearly not for you, look for something else.

i8000 Omnia II

The i8000 Omnia II has an extremely discreet design. The novelty comfortably lies in the hand. Like the model S8000, WiTu AMOLED also has only six buttons. Key with the image of the cube in the center (it is also present in S8000), is also available. In short, if we talk about the buttons, everything is very convenient, especially as the new smartphone based on Windows Mobile has a touch screen and the display takes over the 90% of control.

Samsung i8000 Omnia II is equipped with a 5 megapixel camera with dual LED flash, Wi-Fi controller, Bluetooth module version 2.0, microUSB-port, GPS-receiver, 2, 8 or 16 GB internal memory, a slot for a microSD flash drives, etc. The basis of Communicator is Samsung SC36410800-megahertz processor.

The smartphone also comes with a 3.7-inch touchscreen AMOLED-display with a resolution of 480×800 points.

Motorola announced a new all-touchscreen phone called Crush. The device is a mid-ranger with power and lock keys unusually placed above a 2.8-inch 240×400 pixels display — a fact that gives Crush a somewhat interesting look. Rest of the specs include a 3G radio (EV-DO Rev. 0), 2-megapixel camera, media player, Bluetooth, 950 mAh battery, and of course a microSD memory card slot.

No details on pricing except that the Crush will be affordable, and that it will hit US Cellular before the end of this year…

* SCP-6760 Incognito – it’s actually a Sanyo branded sideways clamshell that combines a touchscreen (2.6-inch QVGA) with full QWERTY keyboard. In addition, there’s the so called “glow-thru” keypad and OLED secondary display, as well as 3G radio, Bluetooth 2.0, 2-megapixel camera, threaded messaging support, and microSD memory card slot. Sprint has picked up the Incognito and will start offering it on November 30th.

* S2300 Torino – another QWERTY phone, this time in candybar form. Specs include a 1.3-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, threaded messaging, speakerphone, and 1xRTT data. It should be available in February 2010.

* S1310 Domino – basic candybar with tri-band CDMA radio, 1xRTT data, Bluetooth, WAP browser, speakerphone. Should be available in December.
