With the saturation of the communications market when it comes to mobile internet, iPhones and Blackberry, it can be very difficult to discern between a great product and a great offer. On first hearing, a ‘great product’ and a ‘great offer’ may sound like the same thing; but if you take a close look at online availability through online blogs and official company websites, it seems that very often a ‘FREE’ handset offer with what appears to be a multitude of other extras is actually a cheap way of covering up a less-then-desirable product.

There is no straightforward way to avoid being duped by the desperate offers and glitzy advertising which peppers every site touting the latest in mobile technology, but it is worth being suspicious of the kind of offers which seem too good to be true. You need to keep it Oscar Wilde: call a spade a spade, and a bad product a bad product. No advertisement is going to point out that a certain item isn’t quite waterproof, or doesn’t quite fit into pockets, or that the screen is prone to scratching or clouding.

If you are serious about finding a phone or organiser which works for you, it serves to do some research before you get to the checkout. Online technology magazines, blogs and mobile telephone websites and customer forums are the ideal place to find out all those things that the manufacturers never wanted you to know.

Despite the rise and rise of the iPhone, many businessmen and professional prefer to keep a network mobile and augment this with a work-specified Blackberry instead. Whilst the advantages of the iPhone are that you can combine work and play in one item, whilst simultaneously connecting to your music stores and online networking sites, this often proves detrimental to efficiency and ease of organisation when it comes to dealing with office emails.

The new Blackberry Curve, amongst other models, has recently been launched by the company, and has a large screen and one-touch key design which make it ideal for anyone who is frequently required to email whilst out of an office environment, or without a computer. Similarly, with networks such as Vodafone, there are various packages which can tailor your contract with the product to suit its use either with an individual or as part of a business package. Check out the Vodafone site for more on their blackberry.
